Lance’s journey into caregiving began with a phone call concerning his father’s need for wound care. What initially seemed like a temporary situation became nearly three years of around-the-clock family caregiving as his father endured seven major surgeries. The experience changed the direction of Lance’s life and gave him firsthand insight into the fear, exhaustion, uncertainty, and responsibility millions of families experience when caregiving arrives unexpectedly.
That personal experience, combined with years of professional work supporting older adults and their families, ultimately became part of the foundation for Caregiving in America – a guide created to give families the information, resources, and direction Lance wished families had when their own caregiving journeys began.
